John Joseph Gotti Jr., the fifth of 13 children born to John Joseph Gotti Sr. and Philomena “Fannie” DeCarlo, was born in the Bronx, New York.

His ancestors came from San Giuseppe Vesuviano in the province of Naples, Italy, where his parents were born.

Gotti allegedly joined street gangs in New York as a young adult and worked with the Fulton-Rockaway Boys gang, which is linked to the Mafia.

He worked as a presser at a coat factory and as an assistant truck driver before joining the Gambino crime family in 1962.

 

Gotti, along with his brothers Gene, Peter, Vincent, and Richard, later joined the Gambino criminal family. The collaboration of the Gambino crime family with Gotti led in multiple arrests and charges.

Gotti’s 58-year-old daughter is a reality TV celebrity and novelist. John A. Gotti is Gotti and Victoria DiGiorgio’s son. He reigned over the Gambino crime family in his father’s absence owing to his father’s arrest from 1992 until 1999.

Gotti’s eldest brother’s name is Peter. He worked for the Gambino family in the 1960s and was considered a “made man” in the mafia by 1988.

Richard Gotti, Gotti’s brother, is 79 years old. Richard has been a capo for the Gambino family since 1999.
