A very popular Australian professional tennis player by name John-Patrick Tracey “JP” Smith was born on January 24, 1989. He is often recognized as a singles and doubles player on the ATP Challenger Tour. Smith has being a student at the University of Tennessee from 2007 to 2011, where he was a four-time All-American and reached the college’s top spot in both singles and doubles. On September 28, 2015, Smith attained his greatest ATP singles rating of No. 108 and on September 11, 2017, he worked harder to attain his highest ATP doubles ranking of No. 52.

Smith defeated fellow Australian Tennis player Bernard Tomic in the opening round of the Hall of Fame Championships in Newport in July 2015 to win his first ATP Tour match and eventually advanced to the semifinals.

Additionally, he and fellow Australian Astra Sharma advanced to the Australian Open mixed doubles final in 2019.

Smith moved to Knoxville in August 2007 after his enrollment at the University of Tennessee, which became his home away from home. He developed into one of the most productive athletes in Tennessee and Intercollege Tennis Association history on those campus’ hardcourts.
