John Douglas Torode is a celebrity chef and television personality who is Australian-British. In the 1990s, he relocated to the United Kingdom and began working for the Conran Group’s restaurants.

He’s also co-authored and presented a few cookbooks, some of which he co-wrote with another MasterChef judge, Gregg Wallace.

Anne and Douglas Torode are his parents. Ann Torode died in her home at the age of 74. She was a fervent opponent of women’s oppression.
She was a founder member of a North Tyneside women’s liberation group and helped build a women’s refuge and a rape crisis centre, both of which are still running today.
His father, famed chef and TV host John Douglas Torode, is of Australian and British ancestry.
He’s also written and presented a few cookbooks, some of which he co-wrote with Gregg Wallace, another MasterChef judge.
