In addition to his time spent with the Cleveland Browns of the National Football League (NFL) over the course of two seasons, he spent time with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League (CFL) in 2018, as well as the Memphis Express of the Alliance of American Football (AAF) in 2019.
As a dual-threat quarterback coming out of high school, Johnny Manziel was highly sought after by college coaches across the country. He made his collegiate debut for the Texas AandM Aggies as a redshirt freshman in Kevin Sumlin’s Air Raid offense in 2012, which was AandM’s first season playing in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). He became the first freshman and only the fifth athlete in the history of the NCAA to accomplish the feat of passing for 3,000 yards and rushing for 1,000 yards in the same season.
He also broke a number of records in the SEC and in NCAA Division I FBS. As the regular season came to a close, he made history by being the first freshman ever to win the Heisman Trophy, the Manning Award, and the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award. In the Cotton Bowl, Manziel led Texas AandM to a victory over Oklahoma by a score of 41–13, capitalizing on the redshirt freshman season he had previously played.
