South African politician and activist Julius Sello Malema was born on March 3, 1981. In July 2013, he founded the political party known as the Economic Freedom Fighters, and he now holds those positions. He oversaw the African National Congress Youth League from 2008 until 2012. Julius Malema was a member of the African National Congress (ANC) from the time he was nine years old until his expulsion from the group in April 2012, when he was 31 years old.

Julius became well-known for his support of Jacob Zuma, who ultimately became president of South Africa and the ANC. Both Zuma and Cassel Mathale, the Premier of the Limpopo Province, referred to him as the “future leader” of South Africa. He has received negative press for being a “reckless populist” who would incite racial strife and destabilize South Africa.

Malema was found guilty of using hateful words in both March 2010 and September 2011. He was expelled from the ANC for five years in November 2011 for causing strife within the organization.
