The Cleveland Browns are actively exploring their options to address the significant void left by the season-ending injury to star running back Nick Chubb. Following a devastating loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday night, the Browns have reportedly initiated discussions with former player Kareem Hunt to potentially fill the position.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter confirmed the talks, stating that “Kareem Hunt is currently visiting with the Browns, per source.” The news of Hunt’s potential return to the Browns has sparked considerable interest among fans and pundits alike.

Kareem Hunt, a 28-year-old native of Northeast Ohio, is currently a free agent after spending four years with the Browns. His history with the team, combined with his proven talent, makes him a compelling candidate to step into the role vacated by Chubb.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski officially confirmed the need for season-ending surgery on Nick Chubb’s left knee and expressed his disappointment over losing a player who holds immense value to the team and the organization as a whole. Stefanski also voiced his confidence in Chubb’s ability to bounce back from the injury.

Cleveland’s interest in Hunt is unsurprising, given his past contributions to the team. In his final season with the Browns in 2022, Hunt served as Chubb’s primary backup, participating in all 17 games. He carried the ball 123 times for 468 yards, scoring three touchdowns, and added 35 receptions for 210 yards with another touchdown.

While the Browns have temporarily named Jerome Ford as their featured back, the potential addition of Hunt could create a significant competition for the top spot on the running back depth chart. The ongoing discussions underscore the team’s commitment to finding a formidable replacement for Nick Chubb and maintaining a strong presence in the rushing game as the season progresses.
