The text-to-speech technology used in Garmin, Navman, TomTom, and Mio GPS devices, as well as phone and computer software systems, was chosen in 2002 to include Jacobsen’s speaking voice as one of the Australian English possibilities. Jacobsen has been dubbed “The Dashboard Diva,” “Gadget Girl,” and “The Dashboard Diva” by ABC News, CBS News, and the Gold Coast Bulletin, respectively.

From 2011 to 2014, Jacobsen’s voice was the original Australian woman’s voice for Apple’s Siri software on iPhones, iPods, and iPads.

Jacobsen was President of the National Speakers Association’s New York Chapter in 2015. He performed The Star Spangled Banner on the national conference’s main stage as well as at the NSA Youth Conference in San Diego (2014).

Karen Jacobsen received her A.Mus.A. in piano and graduated with a voice and piano major from Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University. She also received the Jazz Prize.
