Karl Lagerfeld, was admitted on February 18 to the American Hospital of Paris in the Paris district of Neuilly-sur-Seine, after experiencing health issues in January 2019.
He died the next morning as a result of pancreatic cancer complications. Before his death, Lagerfeld requested to be cremated, and that his ashes should be dispersed alongside those of his mother and his beloved cat, Choupett.
