Scott’s mother, Andrea Sylvestro, confirmed that her daughter had passed away after posting the letter. Scott reportedly struggled with her mental health for a while prior to her death. In a post she left behind, she listed the challenges of being a trans woman as one of her motivations for taking her own life.
Kayleigh Scott spoke on the value of living truthfully and coming out in the Trans Day of Visibility movie. I used to be so ashamed of being trans, the speaker continued, adding, “All I wanted to do was blend in.”
