She is the daughter of Charles and Nita Giddish, and Eli is her brother. Her paternal grandfather supported her desire to become an actress by introducing her to the Fox Theatre in Atlanta. She received a lot of support from her maternal granny regarding her interests.
While attending Forsyth Central High School in Georgia, she spent a lot of time with Yatesy Harvey, a local theatrical instructor who ran a community theatre and was friends with her mother. Giddish participated in Yatesy Harvey’s sleepover theatre camps and appeared in her plays when she was still a young woman. Giddish is said to have developed “ferocious curiosity and very high standards of what acting was and how much attention it took and preparing, and we would perform plays every night” as a result of Harvey. When Giddish was younger, she was awarded numerous accolades. While attending Forsyth Central, she played on the successful softball team, and in 1998, she took home the State Literary Championship for Girls Dramatic Interpretation.
