Born and raised in Miami, Florida, she was known to have attended Harvard University for college and law school at the time, where she served as an editor of the Harvard Law Review.
She commenced her career with three clerkship which included associate justice of Supreme Court Stephen Breyer. She is known to have served as a district judge for the United States District Court for the District of Columbia from the year 2013 to 2021.
The staunch Judge is expected to succeed Justice Breyer when he finally retires from the Court on June 30, 2022. She is inadvertently the first Black woman to serve in the Supreme Court.
