Charles Philip Arthur George was born on 14 November 1948. Charles III became king of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on September 8, 2022, following the passing of his mother, Elizabeth II.

King Charles III also reigns over 14 other Commonwealth states. King Charles III was the oldest and the longest-serving heir apparent in British history from 1952 until his ascension in 2022 as the Duke of Cornwall and the Duke of Rothesay.

In addition, King Charles III was the Prince of Wales who held the throne the longest, from 26 July 1958 until his accession on 8 September 2022. King Charles III was the first child of his mother and Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, and the first grandchild of King George VI and his wife, Queen Elizabeth.

King Charles III was born in Buckingham Palace. King Charles III father attended both Cheam and Gordonstoun schools, where he received his education.

Later, he spent a year studying at Geelong Grammar School in Victoria, Australia, on the Timbertop campus. Charles served from 1971 to 1976 in the Royal Air Force and Royal Navy after graduating from the University of Cambridge with a bachelor’s in arts.
