Kristaps Porziis (Kristap Porzingis) is a professional basketball player for the National Basketball Association’s Washington Wizards. Kristaps Porzingis was born in Latvia on 2nd August 1995. Porzingis, a Liepja native, started his professional basketball career in 2012 with Sevilla of the EuroLeague. Porzingis quickly advanced through the team’s younger ranks and, by 2013, became the leadership of the senior squad. In 2015, Porzings went on to win the EuroCup Basketball Rising Star title, making history by being the award’s youngest-ever winner at the age of 18. The New York Knicks picked Porzingis fourth overall after he declared for the NBA draft the following summer.
Kristaps Porzingis was considered to be a cornerstone for the New York Knicks when he arrived there, but in 2019 he was traded to the Dallas Mavericks due to friction with the team’s management. When Porzingis left Dallas in 2022, it was because of a string of ailments that plagued him there.
