Kwasi Kwarteng is a British politician and the current Chancellor of the Exchequer. From 2021 to 2022, he was the Secretary of State for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy.
Since 2010, he has served as the Conservative Party’s Member of Parliament (MP) for Spelthorne in northern Surrey.
Following the retirement of Suella Braverman, Kwarteng was appointed on November 16, 2018, as Under-Secretary of State at the Department for Exiting the European Union.
In July 2019, when Boris Johnson was elected as Prime Minister, Kwarteng was assigned to the position of Minister of State for Business, Energy, and Clean Growth. As part of this role, he is responsible for attending meetings of the Cabinet.
Kwasi Kwarteng married Harriet Edwards in December 2019. Harriet Edwards, a City solicitor, is his wife. Their child was born on October 15, 2021. He formerly resided in Bayswater and will move to Greenwich in January 2022.
Friends characterize Kwarteng as “intensely secretive.” Kwarteng was formerly involved with Amber Rudd, the former Conservative Home Secretary. Kwasi Kwarteng and his wife Harriet Edwards are still married and living happily with their daughter in mid-2022.
