American professional golfer Lawrence Hogan Mize was born in Augusta, Georgia, on September 23, 1958. He won the Masters in 1987. He currently competes on the Champions Tour after having played on the PGA Tour in the past.
Mize was a Georgia Tech student. He used to work on several of Augusta National’s scoreboards when he was a youngster.
In a playoff at the 1987 competition, Mize turned in his best professional performance, winning the Masters. This event also took place in Augusta. One of the finest shots ever on the course was his stroke from the right side of the eleventh green.
Because he repeatedly let leads in contests slip, Larry D. Mize was his nickname on the Tour before he won. Mize won four times on the PGA Tour, three times on the Japan Golf Tour, and the Montreal Championship in 2010 on the Champions Tour.
