Leo Mezie began his acting career in1996 and rose to fame in the year 2003 after he acted in Labista, a Nigerian blockbuster movie. Leo has starred in movies like King’s Sleepless Night, Close Enemy, No Man’s Land among other movies.

Leo Mezie is married to Maureen Chimezie Onyemachi, a former banker and according to sources, the couple has no child.

According to sources, Leo Mezie was wrongly diagnosed of malaria, typhoid and pneumonia for over a year of which the medications he was given damaged his kidneys in 2016. In 2019, his kidney problem started again and was admitted in Lagos Hospital where some of his Nollywood colleagues visited him.

From other sources, he advised his wife to go back to her parents and start a new life, but she refused and rather supported him all through his ailment.

On Saturday, 14 May, 2022 the actor gave up the ghost and joined his ancestors in a peaceful rest after many years of battling with kidney complications.
