American actress Lisa Lou Banes (July 9, 1955–June 14, 2021) was well-known for more than 80 film and television roles as well as theater performances on Broadway and other stages.

She received a Drama Desk Award nomination in 1984 for Isn’t it Romantic’s Best Featured Actress in a Play. She played Lady Croom in the 1995 American premiere of Tom Stoppard’s Arcadia, for which she received a 1981 Theatre World Award for her work as Alison Porter Off-Broadway in Look Back in Anger. She acted in the motion pictures Cocktail (1988), Freedom Writers (2007), Gone Girl (2014), and Hollis in A Cure for Wellness (2016).

Banes was conceived in Ohio’s Chagrin Falls. She studied acting at the Juilliard School in New York City.

She made multiple appearances on Broadway. She appeared as Cassie in the 1988 production of the Neil Simon play Rumors with Christine Baranski, as Margaret Lord in the 1998 production of the musical High Society with Anna Kendrick, as Accent on Youth with David Hyde Pierce in 2009, and most recently as Present Laughter in its 2010 revival with Victor Garber.
