Last Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers was notable for Akers’ absence from the starting lineup. Sean McVay, the head coach of the Rams, described it as a “coach’s decision” made in the “best interest” of the group.
Akers will now be a member of the Vikings, who currently have the lowest overall rushing yards and first downs of any team. Notably, they are the only team without a rush of 10 yards or more in 2023.
Alexander Mattison, the starting running back for Minnesota, has accumulated 62 yards on 19 carries so far this season but no touchdowns.
Cam Akers, a second-round selection in the 2020 draft, is presently playing out the final year of his rookie deal with the Rams. He had 22 carries for 29 yards and a touchdown in Los Angeles’ victory to start the season.

Despite this, he had a good season finale, accumulating 397 yards and five touchdowns in his final six games.
