Low is renowned for its live shows. Rock club patrons will occasionally sit on the floor to watch the band perform. Early in their existence, the band frequently played to uncaring and uninterested crowds at bars and clubs. In these situations, they defied rock convention and turned down the volume.
In a little hamlet outside of Bemidji, Minnesota, where Mimi Parker was attending grade school, George Alan Sparhawk and she first met. Eventually, the pair got married, fell in love, and moved to Duluth, where they started their band. Hollis Parker and Cyrus, their two children, were born.
