Luke Macfarlane attended London Central Secondary School alongside his twin sister Ruth Macfarlane and older sister Rebecca Macfarlane. Luke later graduated from the Lester B. Pearson School for the Arts, after which Luke studied drama at the Juilliard School of New York. Luke was naturalized as an American citizen on June 12, 2018.
Tanner on Tanner, a Sun Dance Channel mini-series directed by Robert Altman, cast Luke Macfarlane alongside Cynthia Nixon. Luke also had several lead roles, including PV2 Frank Dim Dumphy on the 2005 FX series Over There and a two-part mini-series titled Iron Road in 2009. Luke is best known for his role as Scotty Wandell in the ABC project Brothers & Sister, in which Luke played the husband to the character Kevin Walker, who was played by Matthew Rhys, one of the show’s brothers.
