Miller debuted in the Pittsburgh hip-hop scene in 2007, at the age of fifteen. He signed a record deal with Rostrum Records in 2010 and released his breakthrough mixtapes K.I.D.S. (2010) and Best Day Ever (2010). (2011). Blue Slide Park (2011), Miller’s debut studio album, became the first independently distributed debut album to top the US Billboard 200 since 1995.
Miller had wild days with his friends as a teenager, getting arrested for house parties and crossing the border into Canada. But once he discovered hip-hop, it was all he could think about. Miller, who has been learning to play various instruments since the age of six, formed The Ill Spoken with fellow Pittsburgh emcee Beedie. They had a lot of success, especially after the mixtape “How High,” which featured DJ Diggz and Rated R. The duo opened for other artists such as Soulja Boy.
Miller released three mixtapes on his own, “But My Mackin Ain’t Easy,” “The Jukebox: Prelude to Class Clown,” and “The High Life.” In 2010, he signed a recording contract with Rostrum Records, whose president had long recognized his talent. During this time, his talent grew, as evidenced by the mixtape “K.I.D.S.” released by the label in August 2010.

According to TMZ, Mac Miller died Friday of an apparent overdose. According to law enforcement sources, Mac was discovered dead in a bedroom at his San Fernando Valley home on Friday around noon, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
