Malcom McCormick understood that he needed to get his start early in order to succeed in the global rap scene. He arrived at that stage at age 17. Originally known as Easy Mac and a member of the rap group The Ill Spoken, McCormick was born on January 19, 1992. He is now more commonly known as Mac Miller. His Jewish mother and Christian father raised him in Point Breeze, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After attending Winchester Thurston School and Taylor Allderdice High School, he started to seriously consider a career in music.
Miller had wild times with his friends while still a teen, getting in trouble for house parties and entering Canada. But once he learned about hip-hop, he couldn’t stop thinking about it. Since he was six years old, Miller has been learning to play various instruments. He created The Ill Spoken with Pittsburgh emcee Beedie. They enjoyed success, particularly following the release of the mixtape “How High” with DJ Diggz and Rated R. The pair served as the opening act before other musicians like Soulja Boy.
Miller released three mixtapes on his own, “But My Mackin Ain’t Easy,” “The Jukebox: Prelude to Class Clown,” and “The High Life.” In 2010, he signed a recording contract with Rostrum Records, whose president had long recognized his talent. During this time, his talent grew, as evidenced by the mixtape “K.I.D.S.” released by the label in August 2010.

Miller was discovered unconscious in his Los Angeles home. The chart-topping rapper and producer, born Malcolm James McCormick, died at the age of 26 from an accidental overdose of fentanyl, cocaine, and alcohol, according to the Los Angeles County coroner.
