Madison Cawthorn was born on August 1, 1995, in Asheville, North Carolina, to Priscilla and Roger Cawthorn. Madison Cawthorn was home-schooled through 12th grade in Hendersonville, North Carolina, and played football with the Ashville Saints, a league for home-schooled high school kids.
Madison Cawthorn has a child and used to work at a Chick-fil-A. When Cawthorn was 18 years old, he was gravely injured while returning from a spring break trip to Florida.
He was a passenger when his friend Bradley Ledford fell asleep behind the wheel of a BMW X3 SUV near Daytona Beach, Florida.
When the SUV struck a concrete barrier, Cawthorn’s feet were on the dashboard. In a 2017 speech, Cawthorn alleged that Ledford abandoned him “to burn in a fiery tomb,” but Ledford formally rejected this claim in 2021, claiming that after evacuating the truck, he rescued Cawthorn from the wreck.
In his statement, Cawthorn claimed that he had “no recollection of the event,” but Ledford claimed that he participated in the rescue of an unconscious Cawthorn.
