She made her debut in the Indian Film Industry with Rahul Dholakia’s Raees opposite Shahrukh Khan. Mahira Khan won the Lux Style Award and the Hum award for best on screen couple for ‘Humsafar’.

In 2011, she made her acting debut in a Pakistani Urdu language movie titled ‘Bol’. This movie was directed by Shoiab Mansoor. In this movie she was cast opposite Atif Aslam. The film was deemed to be a great success. In the same year she made her television debut in a Tv show titled Neeyat. This show was directed by Mehreen Jabbar and it was a romantic drama.
Later on, in the same year, she got her breakthrough role in Sarmad Khoosat’s Humsafar. In this show, she was paired opposite Fawad Khan and their chemistry garnered a lot of appreciation and fan following from all over the world. This show was also telecasted on Zindagi TV in India and people gave outstanding reviews to this show.
Controversy

Mahira khan was engulfed in controversy when she was not allowed in India in 2017 to promote her Bollywood debut titled ‘Raees’ in which she was paired opposite Shah Rukh Khan.
In 2017, Mahira Khan received a lot of backlash from people and the media as she was pictured at a foreign location with Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor. Mahira was pictured wearing a backless dress and she was smoking as well. These pictures did not go down well with people and Ranbir Kapoor had to issue a statement imploring people to stop the backlash just because she was a girl.
