Mahsa Amini, who lived in Tehran, the capital of Iran, from July 22, 2000, to September 16, 2022, faced police torture as soon as she and her family arrived. On September 13, 2022, she was detained by the government’s so-called “Guidance Patrol” on suspicion of violating the laws mandating that women cover their arms and legs with loose clothing and their hair with a headscarf while they are in public. Amini was detained by the police as a result of an issue with her clothing.

Mahsa passed away on September 16 in the intensive care unit after spending the entire two days in a coma. Justice for Amini’s mysterious passing was demanded by her family, the state media, and Iranian activists, but the hospital where she was treated claimed on Instagram that she was already dead when she was admitted. After authorities removed the sign, it was revealed that Amini had bruises on her head and legs. According to the other people who were also arrested with Amini, she had been severely assaulted by the officers for refusing to put up with their abuse.
