Since 2019, American politician J. Mandela Barnes has served as Wisconsin’s 45th lieutenant governor. He belonged to the Democratic Party and served as the 11th district’s state legislator from 2013 to 2017. Barnes is the first African American elected lieutenant governor of Wisconsin. He was born in Wisconsin, in the United States of America, on December 1st, 1986, the first day of the month.

Mandela Barnes received his high school diploma from John Marshall. In the year and around 2008, Barnes graduated with a bachelor’s degree in communication and media studies from Alabama A&M University. His professional background includes positions with the City of Milwaukee, the Milwaukee Inner-City Congregations Allied for Hope, and the State Innovation Exchange as the deputy director of strategic engagement.
