He made 164 not out in a 20-over contest when he was nine years old. While watching the game, his father noticed his son’s talent. Along with his twin brother Duan, he instructed Jansen in the nets. For North West, Duan plays cricket as well.
On April 8, 2018, Jansen made his List A debut for North West in the CSA Provincial One-Day Challenge for the 2017–18 season. On October 11, 2018, he made his North West first-class debut at the CSA 3-Day Provincial Cup for the 2018–19 season.
Before their January 2019 trip to India, Jansen was named for the South Africa national under-19 cricket squad. With 27 dismissals in six games, he led North West in wicket-taking in the CSA 3-Day Provincial Cup during the 2018–19 season.
