After one take, she said the Institute Grant winning chief was convinced. “He was like, ‘No, rehash it. That truly works.’ I was like, ‘Gracious, extraordinary,’ ” said Robbie.

“I really kissed Katherine [Waterston], also, yet I couldn’t say whether that took care of business,” Robbie added of their costar, who plays Ruth Arzner.

Robbie stars as growing entertainer Nellie LaRoy in Babylon, which is set in 1920s Hollywood as the film business changes from quiet movies to talkies. Pitt, 58, plays entertainer Jack Conrad.

The Australian entertainer prodded a portion of the difficult work that went into the film last month during a meeting with WSJ. Magazine.
