On December 12, 1900, in Budapest, Hungary, Maria Telkes, the brilliant inventor and biophysicist was brought forth into the world. Maria Telkes graduated from the University of Budapest with a doctorate in physical chemistry before beginning a career as an educator.

On her travel to the United States in 1925 to visit her cousin had the opportunity to be hired as a biophysicist by the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Maria was known to have worked on solar energy technologies. Maria also became a research engineer for Westinghouse Electric and an American citizen in the year 1937.

In 1977, Maria Telkes received the Charles Greeley Abbot Award from the American Solar Energy Society as well as a lifetime achievement award from the National Academy of Sciences Building Research Advisory Board for her work on solar-heated building technologies.

Maria Telkes Illness: What Disease Did Maria Telkes Have?

There was no illness which was associated with Maria Telkes prior to her death. Maria Telkes passed away on December 2, 1995. At the time of her death, she was 94 years old.
