Mark Antony’s life span spanned the final half-century of the Roman Republic. To say that Antony’s life was spent in politics or the military would be an understatement; his family’s lengthy and renowned history should not come as a surprise.

As time went on, his love standing became more and more significant, despite his success as a Roman general and statesman.

Although it is widely accepted that Mark Antony was married to five women, his relationship with Cleopatra is the most well-known one of them.

Mark Antony cause of death

Rome was engulfed in a propaganda war, with Antony accusing Octavian of usurpation and fabricating proof of Caesar’s adoption of him, and Octavian accusing Antony of having low morals for abandoning his wife for Cleopatra.

The two generals met at Actium, Greece, on September 2, 31 BC, and the situation descended into a military conflict.

Antony’s fleet was destroyed in a disorganized fight, and he escaped back to Egypt to rejoin Cleopatra. The upset Antony killed himself with his own sword as Octavian’s soldiers approached Alexandria.
