A large number of people attended an event in London, leading the police to issue a previous warning that anyone showing support for the violent organization Hamas may face arrest. While parallel demonstrations and rallies were held across the nation on Saturday, the Metropolitan Police brought over a thousand officers to the capital city.

Palestinians in northern Gaza have begun to leave in large numbers as hostilities worsen, as Israel has advised them to do so in case of a ground invasion.

The UN, a number of human rights organizations, and other parties have expressed grave concern about the damage that Israeli activities are causing to civilians. Despite a constant blockade in the area and a flurry of airstrikes, the number of casualties keeps rising.

This outburst of violence comes after the Palestinian militant group attacked last week, killing hundreds of Israeli soldiers and civilians.

Before the Saturday afternoon march in London, demonstrators gathered in Portland Place in front of the BBC’s Broadcasting House. They held up placards with inscriptions and proudly waved Palestinian flags.

Flares lit along the route in the national colors of red, green, and black signaled the start of the march. Cries of “Free, free Palestine” filled the air as the participants made their way through the center of the nation.

Analogous events were held in Manchester, Edinburgh, and several other UK locations. The Metropolitan Police announced that until 10 p.m., certain parts of London would be under the authority of Section 60AA. This means that people will have to take off things like masks which can make it harder for them to identify themselves.
