Maglica, a young Croatian Marsonia footballer who participated in the Backnang youth program in 2015, visited Germany. He was promoted from their reserves to their senior team prior to going to Göppingen in 2017. He joined Stuttgart II in June 2020 after a productive first season, and on April 2, 2021, he signed an extension.
In Stuttgart’s 1-0 Bundesliga defeat to Arminia Bielefeld on November 6, 2021, Matej Maglica made his professional debut. Maglica was loaned out to St. Gallen for the balance of the season on January 3, 2022.
St. Gallen made the decision to exercise their option to acquire Matej Maglica’s contract on June 7, 2022. Stuttgart used their buy-back option on June 15, 2023, to acquire the defender from St. Gallen and bring him back to Germany on a two-year deal.
