Nunes began his professional career with Ericeirense before joining Estoril of LigaPro. Nunes spent the majority of his tenure with the organization playing for the reserve squad until transferring to Sporting CP of the Primeira Liga in January 2019.
Nunes was a member of the Sporting team that won a double in 2021, which earned him a spot on the 2022 Primeira Liga Team of the Year. Sporting also won back-to-back Taças da Liga in 2021 and 2022. Nunes joined Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League in August for a club-record transfer fee of €45 million (£38 million).
Nunes was born and reared in Brazil and represented his country at the FIFA World Cup in 2022 at the age of 12, but he later decided to play for Portugal. He made his senior international debut in 2021.
