Lattanzi, the son of Jeanette (née Slowikowski) and Charles Paul Lattanzi, was born and reared in Portland, Oregon. His mother is of Polish ethnicity, while his father was a maintenance foreman of Italian descent. In 1977, he received his diploma from Benson Polytechnic High School.
