Maurice Lamoureux, a former mayor of Sudbury, lost his fight with illness on Tuesday and passed away. Lamoureux, who was 88 years old, had been a community volunteer for a significant amount of time and was well-known in the Sudbury community.
Before he retired in 1989, he worked as an office supervisor at the company that was once known as Falconbridge Ltd.
After he had retired, he took a job as a consultant with Petryna Advertising, and then, after that, he spent 15 years working as a real estate salesperson with Coldwell Banker Marsh Real Estate.

After a valiant struggle with cancer, Maurice Lamoureux passed away on July 5th, 2022, at Extendicare Falconbridge with his wife Marina and family at his side.

He will be buried at Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home in Sudbury. (Friends can call 2-6 pm Sunday, with parish prayers at 3 pm).

His wife Marina (McCourt) and six children Gerald (Joyce Dias), Monica Hoffmann (Norbert), Carole Madeley (Gordon), Donna Benoit (Stan McDonald), Roger, and Paul will miss him immensely (Tobin). Jackie, Huguette, and Gaetano, children of Laurier and Alice, died before him.
Joycelyn Corriveau (Ross) and Mariette Mifflin will grievously miss him (Danny).
