Maury Wills (Maurice Morning Wills) was born on 2 October 1932 in Washington, District of Columbia, USA. He was a former manager and professional baseball player from the United States. Maury was primarily a shortstop and switch-hitter for the Los Angeles Dodgers in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1959 through 1966 and from the second half of 1969 through 1972. He also played for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1967 and 1968 and the Montreal Expos in the first half of 1969.

Wills is credited for bringing back the stolen base as a baseball tactic and was a key member of the Dodgers’ championship teams in the mid-1960s. With 104 base steals, Wills broke Ty Cobb’s 1915 record of 96 for the modern era and was named the National League’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) in 1962.

Maury Wills’s wife is Carla, Carla Wills was the wife of Maury Wills after divorcing Gertrude Elliot on March 17, 1971. They got married and are blessed with six children: Barry, Micki, Bump, Anita, Susan Quam, and Wendi Jo Wills. The couple remained together till Maury’s tragic death.
