A lot of people thinks Messi is the real boss in Catalunya and confirmations are gradually coming after he recently led a campaign against the club’s President by threatening to quit the club which forced Bartomeu into an early resignation.

Quique Setien, who was formerly in charge of the club and was dismissed after their infamous 8-2 trashing in porto disclosed his experiences during his days at the club in an interview with Vicente del Bouque.

Talking about his relationship with the argentine, he said “There are players that aren’t easy to manage,Leo is one of them but who am l to try and change him as a player? I can’t do anything if those at the club have accepted him for how he is and haven’t changed him for years.”

About the President being in favor of the players, he added “I’ve had enough experiences to know exactly what this guy and all the others are like. Since leaving I know myself that at certain moments other decisions had to be made, but there’s something which is more powerful than you and thats the club. What’s more powerful than the president, the player.

Asking about why he couldn’t implement his style of play he used at former clubs, he answered “The truth is that I wasn’t able to be myself, and I wasn’t able to do what I had to do. It’s also true that I could have made drastic decisions, but they wouldn’t have sorted anything in the short time I was [there] and with the situation after lockdown.”

If indeed Setien’s revelations are true then it sends a strong signal to why the club is currently struggling.
