Vin Scully is best known for his work as the play-by-play announcer for the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team. However, from 1975 until 1982, he also served as an announcer for CBS Sports, where he covered a variety of football and golf competitions on national television.

Between the years 1983 and 1989, he worked for NBC Sports as their primary baseball play-by-play announcer.

 

In addition, he was the voice of the World Series on CBS Radio from 1979 until 1982, and then again from 1990 until 1997. This continued both times until 1997.

At the age of 33, Vin Scully’s oldest son, Michael Scully, was taken from this world in a tragic helicopter accident. At the time, he was working for the ARCO Transportation Company in the capacity of an employee.
