Michael Collins was an American astronaut who was born on October 31, 1930, in Rome, Italy. Michael Collins was known to be one of the three astronauts that worked on the “Apollo 11” mission, which resulted in the first lunar landing, one of the most significant occasions in human history, was Michael Collins. Collins was the command module pilot of the mission, which orbited the moon while his colleagues Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin set foot there.
Before he joined NASA, Michael Collins served in the military. After earning his degree from the United States Military Academy, he joined the United States Air Force and was assigned to the Chambley-Bussieres Air Base in France. Michael Collins passed away on April 28, 2021, surviving his wife Patricia and three children, Ann, Kate and Michael Collins. Michael also was the son of James Collins, his father and Virginia Collins, his mother.
