Michael Andrew Fox OC, professionally known as Michael J. Fox, is a retired American-Canadian actor. He started acting in 1970, and on the NBC sitcom Family Ties, he became popular for playing Alex P. Keaton.
Fox’s first roles was in a movie, named Midnight Madness in 1980, and also Class of 1984 (1982), both of which gave him the Michael Fox credits. Soon after, he played “Young Republican” Alex P. Keaton in the NBC television series Family Ties, which ran for seven seasons from 1982 to 1989. Fox stated in April 2014 that he had the job negotiated over a payphone at Pioneer Chicken. After Matthew Broderick was unable to perform, he was given the part. Family Ties was pitched to the television network with the tag “Hip parents, square kids,” where the parents originally were supposed to be the major characters. However, from the fourth episode, Fox’s character dominated the show as a result of the favorable response to his performance.
