Michael Daniel Penn (born August 1, 1958) is a singer-songwriter and composer from the United States. Michael is best known for his 1989 single “No Myth,” which was a top 20 hit in the United States and a hit in several other countries.
Michael Penn is a well-known singer/songwriter and film composer. Penn was a member of the Los Angeles band Doll Congress prior to the release of his debut album March in 1989. Penn appeared as a solo artist on Saturday Night Live on October 24, 1987, with his brother Sean hosting. Penn had also appeared as a background extra on several television shows, including St. Elsewhere. Penn gained attention in March, particularly with the first single, “No Myth,” as well as the 1990 MTV Video Music Award for Best New Artist. Penn’s subsequent albums, Free-for-All (1992), Resigned (1997), MP4: Days Since a Lost Time Accident (2000), Mr. Hollywood Jr., 1947 (2005), and Palms and Runes, Tarot and Tea (2007), failed to match March’s commercial success, despite critical acclaim.
