Bond is a supporter of the Democratic Alliance, he won a seat on the uMgungundlovu District Municipality council in 2000. He challenged incumbent Sizwe Mchunu for the position of DA provincial leader in 2012.
Bond supported Ziba Jiyane after withdrawing, however she fell short to Mchunu, and he was re-elected in 2021 to serve as a member of the uMgungundlovu District Council and to represent ward 25 in the Msunduzi Local Municipality.
After serving on the uMgungundlovu District Council for 22 years, Bond resigned on November 9, 2022, and he also quit his job as the ward councillor for ward 25 in Msunduzi. With effect from November 10, he had been appointed a member of parliament for the DA. On November 16, 2022, Bond took the oath of office to serve in the National Assembly. However, on April 21, 2023, Bond was appointed as an Additional Member on Defence and Military Veterans.
