He was named to the start list for the Vuelta an Espaa in August 2018. He also competed in the Vuelta an Espaa in 2019 and the Vuelta an Espaa in 2020.

In 2021, he rode the Giro for the first time in his career. He came in 31st place while riding in support of Romain Bardet, who came in 7th overall.

Storer won the first grand tour stage of his career on stage 7 of the 2021 Vuelta an Espaa, and then again on stage 10. With this victory, he became only the second Australian, after Michael Matthews, to win several stages of the Vuelta.

He was given the combativity trophy for the stage on stage 7 and again on stage 18 when he went on a single attack of roughly 70 kilometres before being caught on the final climb. With his attack on stage 18, he also took over the lead in the King of the Mountains competition, which he retained and won entirely.

In January 2022, Storer will join the French UCI WorldTeam Groupama-FDJ.
