Michael Joseph Wacha, is an American professional baseball pitcher, who has previously played in Major League Baseball for the Boston Red Sox, St. Louis Cardinals, New York Mets, and Tampa Bay Rays.
He was born on born July 1, 1991, and he currently plays for the San Diego Padres of Major League Baseball (MLB), and was a Texas A&M Aggies baseball player in college.
On June 14, 2012, Wacha was signed by the Cardinals for $1.9 million after being selected by them in the first round of the Major League Baseball draft with the 19th overall pick.
His draft position was originally owned by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, who gave it to the Cardinals after signing Albert Pujols as a free agent.
Dan Kantrovitz, the director of scouting for the Cardinals, predicted Wacha would be a future starter for the team because of his physical attributes, which were similar to those of right-handers Chris Carpenter and Adam Wainwright.
