Oeka Minami was born on December 7, 1998, in Saitama Prefecture, Japan, and is a well-known Japanese footballer who plays as a defender for the Italian Serie A side A.S. Roma and the Japan women’s national team.
She began her career with Urawa Red Diamonds Ladies in the youth divisions before joining Nadeshiko League team Urawa Reds in 2017.
She signed a two-year contract with AS Roma in July 2022, making her debut in August in a 3-1 UEFA Champions League win over Glasgow City.
Minami quickly made her mark in Serie A, scoring against AC Milan and Sparta Praha.
She won the 2022 Supercoppa Italiana and made a key contribution to Roma’s historic 2022-23 Serie A title win over Fiorentina.
Minami’s international career began in 2014 with Japan’s U-17 national team and finished with her selection to the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup roster.
