A veteran singer, Onyeka Onwenu, has announced that her latest song named, ‘Rise’, was composed and delivered in partnership with the Rose of Sharon Foundation, to draw attention to the predicament of widows in the public eye. The foundation is claimed by Folorunsho Alakija, one of the most extravagant black ladies on the planet.
Onwenu, who is an individual from RoSF’s board of legal administrators, also swore to continue creating socioeconomic strengthening for widows and orphans through several programs that would guarantee greater confidence and cause financial integration.
She told Saturday Beats, “throughout my career, I have been special and monstrously honored by God to have chipped away at several tasks – in film, television, music and others.

Nonetheless, very few things can compare to the passion I have for what we are trying to achieve with RoSF.”
“The song was delivered for nothing as my donation to the foundation. Also, all returns from the song will go straightforwardly to the cause of the foundation and the great work of providing support for widows. I encourage all benevolent Nigerians to ‘rise’ and join us in the battle to mitigate the challenges facing widows and orphans in Nigeria.”
On her part, Alakija communicated happiness that the foundation had engaged several individuals throughout the long term. She said, “Since the inception of the foundation in 2008, we have impacted the existences of about 6,000 beneficiaries. We are presently ‘servicing’ 4,262 beneficiaries, while 1738 beneficiaries have been ‘adjusted’ and presently have stable businesses, which assist them with taking care of themselves. The total number of orphans and offspring of widows’ that have graduated is 343. Nonetheless, our vision is to significantly increase these numbers.”
Meanwhile, the country manager of the foundation, Dr Ndudi Bowei, stated that Onwenu will perform the song at a widow’s concert booked to hold in November.
