Board members and organizers of the 3 Music awards has agreed to introduce a new category called ‘EP of the year Award’ to their awards scheme.
With all awards organizations focused on only albums released during the year, no attention has been giving to artist who doesn’t have the big financial backings hence, results in producing extended playlists instead of spending on a whole album.

This brought an earlier suggestions from some members of 3 Music organizers to introduce the new category ‘EP of the year’ aside Album of the year and many reports indicates they went on a trip to Akosombo to put heads together concerning the upcoming edition.
After several deliberations and casting of votes, the board agreed to introduce the new category aimed at celebrating the artist with the best Extended playlist within the year.
