Although Cleveland Browns feared the worst with their star running back Nick Chubb’s injury during Monday Night Football, all hope is not lost as the latest update has revealed that the athlete’s injury is not as severe as people initially feared it to be.

Chubb was placed on injured reserve due to the knee injury suffered by him. However, since then, there has been some good news as surrounding the back’s condition. Initial tests conducted on the Chubb made people hopeful that he did not suffer a torn ACL, according to ESPN. However, the report did reveal that doctors believe Chubb’s ACL was stretched on the play. There are concerns that he may be dealing with a torn MCL. The timeline for his recovery is reportedly between six and eight months.

The full scope of Chubb’s injury is yet to be revealed. Once he undergoes surgery, the medical team will be able to assess the damage firsthand. Chubb could still undergo full ACL reconstruction if the surgeon examines the injury during surgery. The doctors will then determine if there is enough damage to go forward with the reconstruction procedure.

Browns were playing against the Pittsburgh Steelers when Chubb took a handoff from quarterback Deshaun Watson, at the 8-yard line, getting hit low at the 4-yard line by Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick. Chubb’s left knee appeared to bend sideways as he fell to the ground.

Fans took to social media to comment on how Chubb was directly hit in the knee which caused him to flip. He writhed in pain, brushing off teammates as they offered to help him up.

The RB was carted off the field after suffering a knee injury that is expected to sideline him for the rest of the season. The team’s coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed the news to reporters that Chubb will likely not make a comeback for the rest of the season. He called the knee injury significant.

“We feel, obviously, for Nick,” head coach Kevin Stefanski said. “But I know Nick and his teammates know, and you have to move on.”
