The Nigerian Accountant General office caught fire in Abuja on Wednesday April 8th, 2020.

Although the official cause of the fire is yet to be investigated, Femi Fani Kayode, a member of the opposition PDP is alleging that, the office was deliberately set ablaze to cover the corruption of the government.

According to him, the National Assembly (NASS) asked Federal Government to give account on how they distributed 2 trillion naira to the poor as claimed and also add names and how they arrived at the database and demographic spread”.

He added that, the Finance Minister responded by saying “We have the records. They are with the Accountant General” and 9 hours later, office of the Accountant General was engulfed by fire.

Per his logic, the fire was orchestrated to destroy documents and protect corrupt officials. see tweet below
