The photo of One World Trade Center covered in fog went viral on the morning of the 22nd anniversary of 9/11 terror attacks.

The photo in question was shared by New York-based photojournalist Gary Hershorn on X, formerly known as Twitter. The photo has been viewed over 61,000 times so far.

One World Trade Center, also known as One World Trade, One WTC, and formerly called the Freedom Tower during initial planning stages, is the main building of the rebuilt World Trade Center complex in Lower Manhattan, New York City.

Designed by David Childs of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, One World Trade Center is the tallest building in the United States, the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, and the seventh-tallest in the world. The supertall structure has the same name as the North Tower of the original World Trade Center, which was destroyed in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. The new skyscraper stands on the northwest corner of the 16-acre World Trade Center site, on the site of the original 6 World Trade Center.

Beneath Hershorn’s post, people on social media recollected their memories from before the Twin Towers went crumbling to the ground during the deadly attacks.

“I had two different jobs at the #WorldTradeCenter: One was when it was being constructed and the other for a foreign bank. In August of 2001 I saw a free concert, in the WTC plaza on a beautiful summer day, and I think it was Janis Ian, which of course she sang ‘At Seventeen,’” one of them wrote.
